Finally, we see a dorky-looking Johnson calling to say, вЂњSo, Buckethead, ya ready to go to work?вЂќ The Chief says, вЂњYeah.вЂќ ItвЂ™s cute.Д«elow Shore Leave, thereвЂ™s a picture of an Etch A Sketch. Then an old woman yells at him because he parked the Hog with one wheel on her car. As he tries to leave the store, his purchases fall out of the bottom of the bag and spill across the ground. At the grocery store, he accidentally crushes a cantaloupe by squeezing too hard.

He is then seen in full MJOLNIR armor driving a civilian Hog, but stuck in traffic. His day starts off bad when a thrown newspaper thwacks him in the head. Master Chief is first seen wearing a robe and holding a cup of coffee, while still wearing his helmet of course. The storyline is far from serious and is instead more like a comic strip in a newspaper.

This one is way too short to be put with the stories, consisting of only six panels less than an inch tall. Think theyвЂ™ve got a thing for alliteration?Д«BB starts off with a short comic strip called Shore Leave: Master Chief on Holiday, by Paul Russel.

He remembers when his friends and family thought he was working on a public relations campaign for the Hog in reality he was being put under pressure by his employers and his job was getting progressively harder due to the UNSC's continuous defeats. He describes Mombasa as a cosmopolitan city before the Covenant attack. He feels both proud and guilty about his work because he is helping to hide the truth about how mankind is losing the war against the Covenant.

He says his employers pay him well and through them he's employed by the Office of Naval Intelligence. He explains that his job is to edit and manipulate images coming from all over human space, making them more 'digestible' for the public. Journalist Benjamin Giraud commutes to New Mombasa on a monorail train. The entire story is a flashback told after the initial Covenant invasion on the city of New Mombasa on October 20, 2552, before the arrival of UNSC reinforcements later in the day.
